Andrew Oliver, the 22-year-old left-hander who takes Rick Porcello's spot in the rotation, will make his Major League debut against the Atlanta Braves on Friday.

Oliver, who played college baseball at Oklahoma State, was 6-4 with a 3.61 ERA this season with the Erie SeaWolves, the AA affiliate of the Tigers. He struck out 70 in 77.1 innings.

Oliver was selected by the Tigers in the second round of the 2009 amateur entry Draft.

The flamethrower, whose fastball is around 95 MPH, will face off against the Braves' Kris Medlen. Medlen has pitched well this season; he has a 3.33 ERA and has won four games while losing only one. Oliver has to pitch well if he wants that first big league win.
