In a blog posted four days ago, In Play! informed you about the 'Curse of Joel Zumaya.' Well, that day-to-day injury could be something more.
The flamethrower was anticipating to be out for only a few days after scar tissue broke loose from his surgically repaired elbow during his first spring training game last weekend. While inflammation has improved substantially, head athletic trainer Kevin Rand said Saturday that it hasn't disappeared and Zumaya won't pitch until it does.
Zumaya will seek a second opinion on that soreness, according to pitching coach Rick Knapp.
