The Lions Win Four, The Tigers Win It All, And Ernie…

The Lions Win Four, The Tigers Win It All, And Ernie…
By Denny McLain/In Play! magazine

Let me start this column off with a chuckle at Jim Brandstatter’s expense. I like him a lot, and even he will laugh a little at this.

As he stated, during Michigan’s first game (Sept 5) in the gifted articulated manner of Jim Price, after only two plays against that powerhouse Western Michigan, Brandstatter stated that when the QB ran the ball up the field about 20 yards that the big difference this year versus last year is the QB can really run. Please guys, after two plays?

If he is that good why isn’t he coach? Jim you almost got canned a couple years ago and that was really wrong but start looking over your shoulder cause there are a million wannaabes out there now willing to work for nothing and I think you know that sir. Be careful!

Over to the Tigers. The division race in Detroit was over in early September, Tigers win! Tiger win! Tigers win! The Playoffs will be interesting if the pitching continues to be as good as it has. My God, if we could play all games at home we would win the entire thing. I do not understand why they don’t win on the road? I loved the road, more peaceful and restful than being at home, but for some reason they can’t hack it, but who knows, maybe the worm will turn.
