TIGERS AGREE TO TERMS ON TWO-YEAR DEAL WITH RAMON SANTIAGO

DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with infielder Ramon Santiago, thus avoiding arbitration.

Santiago batted .267 (70x262) with six doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 35 RBI in 93 games for the Tigers during the 2009 season. He established career highs with seven home runs and 35 RBI.

In 183 games with the Tigers since the start of the 2007 season, Santiago is hitting .274 (124x453) with 17 doubles, five triples, 11 home runs and 60 RBI.

With Santiago agreeing to terms, the Tigers now have 13 players on the club’s 40-man roster under contract for the 2010 season.
