RECENT RESULTS:
(1-1) picked up the win in relief, while Joaquin Benoit earned the save. Alex Avila
belted two home runs and collected three RBI. The Tigers continue a 10-game
homestand this afternoon with the final game of a three-game series versus Tampa
Bay. The homestand continues with a four-game series with Boston and a
three-game series with Minnesota.
LOOKING FOR A SWEEP:
three-game series versus Tampa Bay at Comerica Park. With a win today over the
Rays, it would mark the first time ever the Tigers have swept Tampa Bay in Detroit.
The Tigers have won both of the first two games of aJHONNY ON THE SPOT:
a triple, six home runs and 18 RBI over his last 25 games dating back to April 22.
He is fifth among all American League players with a .587 slugging percentage
during that stretch, while he is tied for seventh with six home runs.

home runs from the eighth spot of the Tigers order last night versus Tampa Bay and
all eight of his home runs have come when hitting eighth this season. His eight
home runs mark the most home runs from the lower third of the batting order
(seventh, eighth and ninth spots combined) by any major league player in 2011.

G.R.E.A.T. DAY:
addressed a group of students from the Gang Resistance Education and Training
about the importance of becoming responsible members of the community. Since
1992, the Tigers have dedicated one game a year to G.R.E.A.T. This year, more
than 1,200 students will be on hand to celebrate their achievements in avoiding
destructive behaviors.
SAFETY PATROL AND AQUAFINA PERFECT ATTENDANCE DAYS:
afternoon’s game marks the last of five days throughout the season where students
who serve on safety patrol and service squads, or have perfect school attendence
receive free tickets to view a Tigers game at Comerica Park. Detroit Public Schools
received 2,000 tickets to distribute and the Archdiocese of Detroit received more
than 2,400 tickets for deserving students. Aquafina will provide a limited number of
drawstring bags for students in attendance.
GAME BALL DELIVERY:
Mason, Michigan will deliver the game ball. Specialist Spoor recently returned from
his first deployment to Afghanistan where he was awarded the Combat Action Badge
and the Army Commendation Medal. He has proudly served the United States Army
for three years. Tickets for Specialist Spoor and his guests will be provided by
3-Dimensional Services Group.
