By Denny McLain
What the hell is going on?
Brandon Inge was voted to play in the All-Star game by the fans, and not the managers or players, (but that’s another story). He plays in the All-Star game, tries to hit homeruns and obviously hurts himself (more) in the game. Now he’s complaining that he is in excruciating pain. Excruciating pain is being shot in Iraq or Afghanistan isn’t it?
No one who can’t play 100% at this time of the season needs to play in excruciating pain.
Brandon! Sit down and rest, I guarantee you that it will be better, the team will be better. But now they are saying “In this excruciating pain...that he is going to play”.
Man...Come on Brandon! Either it’s horrible pain or it isn’t. There’s a real showing of selfishness by playing despite the “Pain”.
Folks, it’s obvious that Jimmy Leyland knows something about this “Pain” Inge has, cause I guarantee you if he was in excruciating pain, Leyland (always a player’s manager) would not allow him to play and possibly cut his career short.
There are no guarantees about what happens in this game, we all have been through pain but we DO NOT GO OUT AND TELL THE WORLD THAT WE ARE INJURED AND DESPITE ALL OF THAT PAIN...PLAY AND HURT THE TEAM.
How the hell can that be good for the “Team”?
“Team”, Brandon, (No “I” in team is there?) you have lost sight of the word “Team”. You do what’s in the best interests of the team, not holler about pain and hurt the club’s performance.
By the way just for the record, when I was really more stupid than I am today, I pitched despite the pain and won some games too! But the only thing playing for the “Gipper” did was cut my career short...by many years!
You can’t pitch very long with a torn Rotator Cuff, nor can you play if you have excruciating pain in your knee!
Yup, I don’t understand this dog and pony show, but Leyland, playing Inge right now is a sure way to show him off...right?
